  1. 1. Vehicles exceeding 40t in total gross weight or axial load exceeding 10t
  2. 2. Vehicles exceeding 4.2m in height including load
  3. 3. Vehicles exceeding 16.7m in length including load
  4. 4. Vehicles exceeding 2.5m in width including load
  5. 5. Vehicles with faulty loading
  6. 6. Vehicles acknowledging necessary need for other operation restrictions

    - Normal speed under 50km/h

    - Faulty loading (slanted, cover unattached, discharge of liquids, vehicles with concerns of falling, etc.)

    - In the case of abnormal weather (Over 10cm of snowfall, under minus 20℃) no entry for articulated vehicles (Pull cars, trailers)

  7. 7. Vehicles that are recognized as necessarily in need of operational restriction by other road management administrations for the structural preservation of the roads and prevention of danger to other vehicles

Permissible Operation of Restricted Vehicles

1. In the case of vehicles that inevitably must be on the road due to the distinct characteristic of its load (inseparable load), operation is permissible after getting permission beforehand

2. How to Apply :
  - Apply to road management administration that has jurisdiction over starting point
  - Vehicles exceeding specifications (width, height, length) must apply atwww.ospermit.go.kr

What is Defective load Vehicle? - A Vehicle at risk of falling objects due to insufficient load measures.

Example of a defective load vehicles

    Lopsided Loadings : A vehicle with its load tilted to one side.

  • 2

    Faulty bond condition : A vehicle that operates without a secure fixation of cargo, such as a cover, tie, etc.

    Loadbox cleaning poor : Vehicles that are feared to scatter goods due to non-removal of cargo boxes.

  • 4

    Cover not installed : A vehicle without a cover, carrying sand, earth, gravel, etc.

  • 5

    Liquid discharge : Vehicles concerned about discharging liquid substances such as oil, water, and ready-mixed concrete.

  • 6

    Other Load Fall Concerned Vehicles : Other vehicles that are feared to fall off the load (e.g. opening of the loading box).

Road Traffic Actbased on regulation(methods and limitations of boarding or loading)

    The driver of all vehicles shall not drive in excess of the safety standards prescribed by the Presidential Decree concerning the number of passengers, the weight of load, and the capacity of load.
    However, this shall not apply where permission is obtained from the police chief who has jurisdiction over the place of departure.

    Article 14 Paragraph 4 shall apply to vehicles for which permission under the proviso to paragraph 1 is required to obtain permission for operation under the proviso to Article 77 (1) of the Road Act. <Updated 2014.12.30>

    The driver of all vehicles shall take necessary measures, such as opening and closing the door correctly, in order to prevent the rider or the rider from falling off while driving. <Amendment 2014.12.30>

    The driver of all vehicles shall take necessary measures to ensure that they are secured, such as covering or tying up the cargo so that it does not fall while driving. <Amendment 2014.12.30>

    The driver of all vehicles shall not drive with an infant or an animal in his/her arms in his/her arms, or in a condition that may interfere with safety, such as operating a driving device or loading objects around the driver's seat. <Amendment 2014.12.30>

    The head of the local police agency may, if deemed necessary to prevent danger on the road and ensure traffic safety and smooth communication, restrict the number of passengers, load weight, or load capacity of the driver of the vehicle. <Amendment 2014.12.30>
